“Can bathing improve your heart?”
Japanese researchers ran a test from 1990 to 2009 studying 30,079 people. The people who took two or fewer baths a week and the people who took baths three or four times a week were then separated into two groups. Over the span of 20 years, they found that people who took baths three or four times a week had a 25% lower risk of coronary heart disease and 13% lower risk of stroke. Daily bathers had a 40% lower risk of heart disease and 25% lower risk of stroke.
“Can bathing help you breathe easier?”
Immersion in water up to your chest, with your head out, can improve lung capacity and oxygen intake. This is caused by two factors: the water's temperature and the pressure it exerts on your chest and lungs. Your oxygen intake improves as the water warms and heartbeat quickens, and the steam produced can clear your sinuses and chest.
“Does bathing help for your mind?”
Bathing has been proved to improve mental health! This is because when your body is submerged in warmth, it reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression. This is because when our body is warm and protected in a body of water, our brain sends us “happy” signals called serotonin, which is a mood stabilizer. Taking baths is a natural way to increase serotonin!
“Can baths help your body?”
Bathing can improve your muscles, joints, and bones! When your body is submerged in water, there is less gravity tension on your body, this weight relief has been proven to help many people suffering from arthritis! But in return, the water pressure can also help with resistance training, that is why physical therapists find that beginning with slow water movements benefits their patients the most and quickens the process.
“Does bathing help your immunity?”
Taking icy baths may boost your immune system and make you more resistant to illness, according to research. A clinical trial in the Netherlands discovered that taking cold showers reduced the number of people who called in sick by 29%. Another study linked cold showers to increased cancer survival.
“Can baths stabilize your hormones?”
Bathing in colder temperatures can help with conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome and some fertility issues. Pituitary hormones such as adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and other hormones such as beta endorphin and cortisol can become more balanced.
